Chorus is held on Tuesday mornings before school at Hopkins Hill and on Wednesday afternoons after school at Blackrock. We will also hold special Thursday morning rehearsals at Blackrock for those who are unable to attend on Wednesday afternoons because of CCD. You may sign up at Hopkins Hill until September 27 and at Blackrock until September 28. As usual, I will reopen chorus signup for the second half of the year beginning in January 2012.

The year will begin with a review of music class expectations followed by a unit on different types of musical form. A study guide for this unit can be found on this site. You should know where your recorder is. You’ll need it at the beginning of October.

It will be a very different year for grade five students this year, because students will need to choose between band or general music. With this in mind, we will begin the year talking about band with a review of the staff and a conversation about instruments and instrument families. General music students will have a test on instrument families before the end of September. No tests will be given in general music classes during the month of October while NECAP testing is in progress. Plese look for the instrument study sheet here.
