Literature
During the 3rd Nine wks. the 6th grade chorus will be busy learning folk songs. These are songs that are essential to not only the choral repertoire but to all American music. They will be working on Simple Gifts, Ching a Ring Chaw, Water is Wide/Michael Row, Shenandoah, The Ash Grove, Wade in the Water and Follow the Drinkin' Gourd.
Skills
This nine weeks students will learn how to identify notes on a keyboard. This skill will help them better understand the scales they are learning and give them a basic knowledge of the piano.
We will also continue sight singing from the Audrey Snyder " Sing on Sight" book.
Students will also be able to sing 3 scales- major, minor, and chromatic from memory.
Historical Connections
We will discuss the historical connections to our folk songs as well as discuss some of the composers of the songs.

ELT singers will be working diligently to prepare music for Large Group Performance Evaluation. This event is in March and the performance is usually treated as a field trip and is during school hours. When I am made aware of our exact date and time I will let you know.
ELT singers will also have a pre-LGPE performance a few weeks prior to the big day.
