Please take a few minutes to read through the following preview about our program.
HOMEWORK Homework is to be expected Monday-Thursday evenings and should require about 30 minutes. In addition to any incomplete daily assignments, other work will be assigned to students as needed, either individually or to the class as a whole. Not all homework will be written. Reading, studying spelling words, or practicing math facts are equally important. Some assignments, such as reference reports, will be “long-term” assignments and will require your child to plan ahead. Pleasure reading will be expected for each child each evening. Studying math facts, learning spelling words, or writing in a diary or journal are also things which can always be done when you hear this “famous” answer… “I don’t have any!”
ASSIGNMENT AGENDA Each child will have an assignment agenda to record every assignment each day. Any assignments not finished in class will be considered homework. This agenda will come home every evening and will need to be signed by you. Please expect it.
RED FOLDER Your child’s graded weekly work will come home to you each Friday in a red folder. Please date and sign each week on the inside cover. This tells us you received the work. Please keep the packet of graded work each week and return the signed red folder to school each Monday.
DISCIPLINE Attached is a copy of our discipline plan. We are firm believers in stressing the positive. Both positive and negative consequences are listed, however, for those students who do, or do not, choose to follow the rules. Students start with a “clean slate” each day, but we will notify you if a pattern of behavior develops. We are also firm believers in parent-teacher communication and hope you are, too!
