Ms. Thornton's First Grade Class!
Welcome to first grade! This is going to be a wonderful year of growth and learning. As the year progresses, I am looking forward to getting to know each of you and working with you to make this a successful year for your child. This page will be updated weekly to keep you informed and involved with what your child is learning. The first week of school we will be taking time to learn about each other, make new friends, and practice the procedures that will help our classroom to run smoothly throughout the year!

Try these Primary Games at home with your child to improve his/her academic skills in reading, writing, math and science. Additional websites that you can try are DIBELS Interventions Electrified, Vowel Sound Practice and Starfall.

Behavior Expectations for Enterprise Learning Academy
It is very important that your child follow our classroom rules. Listed below is a Behavior Color Chart that we use to monitor students' behavior.

Behavior Color Chart

Green - Excellent Behavior
Orange - Verbal Warning
Blue - Loss of Privileges
White - Time Out
Red - Telephone Call to Parents

Your child's behavior color is recorded in his or her Planner at the end of each day. It is important that you check your child's Planner everyday. At the beginning of each day, every child starts off with a green color card. If your child stays on green all day, he or she will receive a treat or a prize from the class treasure box. If a rule is not followed, it will result in one color card change. A written comment will be made in your child's Planner if he or she receives a color other than green. If a written comment is made in your child's Planner, please take a few moments to review the rules, and talk to your child about improving his or her behavior at school.

They will draw and build other three-dimensional constructions as they plan and create their own town. They will also examine the connections between two dimensions and three dimensions, using Geoblocks and other manipulatives to match faces and solids.
