Biology with Mr. Rizzo
Welcome to Biology! This is a general survey course in life science. It deals with the study of the structure and functions of the cell, the principles of heredity and genetics, evolution and the origins of biodiversity, and ecology. Throughout the course we will use the scientific method to solve problems. Laboratory work is an important area of this course and includes the use of the microscope. All students will be required to complete an interdisciplinary research project.

This week in Biology
November 16, 2009
What would a visit to a local supermarket be like if all the items were randomly placed in the store? Imagin if there was no dairy, produce, seafood or frozen foods sections, shopping would be confusing and frustrating. It's human nature to organize, to classify, to find similarities and patterns and to infer. That's what biologists do! All students will study classification of living things from now and until the Thanksgiving Day vacation.
