It's November Already!
The first marking period is completed and we're proud of the team's overall performance. There were lots of A's and B's in both on- and off-team classes. The new marking period brings new goals and expectations for our students. It's a great time to reflect on our successes and areas needing improvement.

Algebra 1 with Ms. Kendall
Welcome to Algebra 1! Every student in the state is required to take this course in order to graduate from high school. We will cover all basic algebra topics: data analysis, solving equations, graphing lines, simplifying expressions, and exponents. These topics will be applied to real-world situations. I look forward to working with each one of you!

Biology with Mr. Rizzo
Welcome to Biology! This is a general survey course in life science. It deals with the study of the structure and functions of the cell, the principles of heredity and genetics, evolution and the origins of biodiversity, and ecology. Throughout the course we will use the scientific method to solve problems. Laboratory work is an important area of this course and includes the use of the microscope. All students will be required to complete an interdisciplinary research project.

C.A.R.E.
The C.A.R.E. model is the centerpiece of Team H. It is a way for students to look closely at themselves- to build on successes and learn from failures. Each marking period, the students receive an entire test grade in each major subject based on their conduct and academic effort. Here's the best part- the students grade themselves based on what they think they deserve! We trust our students with this responsibility and are confident that this self-reflection will help them grow and reach their goals.

Seminar and Experiential Education
First period Seminar is an opportunity for both our 9th and 10th graders to complete homework, study, read or receive extra help from their on-team teachers. Students are also expected to participate in peer groups facilitated by Mrs. Tassiello, our team social worker. In addition, part of the Seminar grade is what we call Experiential Education, which is the extra-curricular requirement for all of our team students. Students receive one full credit for the successful completion of Seminar.
