AP Environmental Systems
Environmental Systems is a course to provide students with the scientific principles, concepts, and methodologies required to understand the interrelationships of the natural world, to identify and analyze environmental problems both natural and human-made, to evaluate the relative risks associated with these problems, and to examine alternative solutions for resolving and/or preventing them. Environmental science is interdisciplinary; it embraces a wide variety of topics from different areas of study. Yet there are several major unifying constructs, or themes, that cut across the many topics included in the study of environmental science, such as energy conversions, the Earth, human impact, environmental problems, and management of resources.
Earth and Space Science
Earth and Space Science is a capstone course designed to build on students' prior scientific and academic knowledge and skills to develop understanding of Earth's system in space and time. Students will be expected to develop scientific models that show an understanding of the natural world and how systems work. There will also be an emphasis on process skills, organizing, interpreting and communication of data. This course is part of the recommended high school plan.
