How to pass the 9th grade TAKS test?
updated October 12, 2009
Step by Step Instructions Step 1-Start early in the year. You've made it this far. Understand that ninth grade math is just a continuation of all the math you have had over the last number of years. You just need a little focus and understanding of the beast. Step 2-Talk to your parents and to your teacher. Be sure that they understand that you are earnest about wanting to pass this test. Let them know that you are talking to them because you may need their help, because indeed you may. Step 3-Find samples of ninth grade math TAKS tests online (see Resources below). Take one of these tests, and get it corrected. Then, you'll see where you stand. You may need a lot of help, a little bit of help, or you may look pretty good. Step 4-Set up a schedule now. You will need to work on your weak areas, whatever they may be. You may need to do a lot of work or a little. But whatever you need, be ready to do it. Step 5-Home in on the areas where you need help. It may a lot of algebra and geometry. Or maybe you need to fill in with a few missed stitches from years before. Maybe you need to practice fundamentals. Step 6-Be sure you get the help you need when you need it. You may need to talk to your mom and dad or your teacher about getting a tutor. You will need to know if you are making progress, and how to get the answers when you get stuck.
