Mrs. Cook's Classes!
Hello students, parents, and faculty! I'm Emily (Fruge) Cook and I'm currently in my second year teaching here at QCHS. QCISD has become a home to me and I've loved getting the chance to teach here! (I'm also the JV Cheer Coach this year.) My classes are in the Career and Technology field and provide students the opportunity to learn business, advertising, and problem solving skills that will equip them for real life scenarios.
Digital Graphics
This is the second year for QCHS to offer Digital Graphics. This is a hands on class that involves a lot of graphic projects. The book work goes into the what's and why's and how's of graphic design. We follow a lot of the book's projects but we also try to keep up with the trends of advertising. This class is one that I really love to teach with my advertising and public relations background. We will use Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Macromedia software, as well as some animation and video maker software.
Problems & Solutions
Problems & Solutions is another brand new class here at QCHS. This class has been a hybrid of a research-based class and also has contributed to various activities around campus. The students helped to plan pep rallies, led several fundraisers for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and have finished their first in-class debate. The students will research real world problems (i.e. texting while driving, teen pregnancy, etc) and will try to provide their own solutions to the problems. This class requires that students give presentations to experts in the field that they are researching in order for them to receive AP credit. Through this class I believe that students have shown pride in their school and have gone above and beyond to provide concrete ideas to improve school spirit.
Principles of Information Technology
This class is set up to help students develop computer literacy skills to adapt to emerging technologies used in the global marketplace. Students will implement personal and interpersonal skills to prepare for a rapidly evolving workplace environment. Students enhance reading, writing, computing, communication, and reasoning skills and apply them to the information technology environment. Throughout the year students will create a unique "business" that they will advertise for using brochures, business cards, and PowerPoint presentations given to the class.

This is a new class at QCHS that took the place of Business Computer Information Systems.
