This course introduces students to the accounting cycle including Journalizing,posting,adjusting,and closing of the books. It also introduces students to preparing a trial balence, income statement, balence sheet and a worksheet for a business.

This course includes an in-depth study of liabilities and owner's equity items. Competencies include keeping financial records for accounts receivables, uncollectable accounts, plant assets, notes receivables, notes payable, and vouchers. The course develops skills and analyzing,interpreting, summarizing and reporting information,preparing formal statements and supporting schedules, and using inventory control systems.

This course includes an overview of computer hardware and software including Windows 2000 Professional and Internet Explorer. The student will learn Microsoft Word and will be given the skills of necessary for certification on the Specialist level includingg the ability to key, save, edit and format documents.

This course presents the fundamentals of accounting as applied to compensation programs including the calculation of payroll, payroll taxes and the preperation of records and reports. State and Federal taxation is also discussed.
