Probability and Heredity

Discussion of how Mendel used the principles of probability to explain his results.

Students will be learning how to read a Punnett square to determine recessive and dominate traits.
Bridge Building Project

Companies will continue to build their toothpick bridges until they have met the requirements.

Judging to see which bridge holds the most weight will take place upon unit completion.

Science Challenge (homework)
Due Date: September 23, 2008
Identify examples of "gliders" and "helicopters" in nature. Examples may include dandelion, maple, and milkweed seeds and so-called "flying" fish, frogs, lemurs, squirrels, and lizards.

After finding the names of "gliders and "helicopters" find out how each object or animal makes use of air resistance.

Use a t-chart for organizational reasons.

Make a flip book by drawing a series of pictures of something falling. The first picture should be on the bottom page and the last picture should be on the top page. The background should stay the same from picture to picture, but the objects position should change to show its motion over time.
