Chemistry I provides opportunities for students to develop and communicate an understanding of structure, physical and chemical properties, and chemical change. Concepts covered include properties of matter, measurement and use of the SI system of measurement applied to mathematical operations, atomic theory, bonding, periodicity, nomenclature, equations and reactions, the mole and stoichiometry, thermochemistry, gas laws and kinetic molecular theory, solutions, equilibrium, acids and bases, and oxidation and reduction. Students must be able to communicate results through various methods.
