| Welcome to Scheck's classes! |
I'm excited to be completing my tenth year teaching, at the end of my first year at HHS! I am a graduate of Northfield Mount Hermon School, Colby College (BA, English Lit; Education), and The Bread Loaf School of English at Middlebury College (MA, English Lit).
My goals are to help you realize your potential and achieve your goals, and to continue to become a better educator myself.
For the nine years before this one, I lived in Seattle, WA and taught at Renton High School. I have taught grades 9-12; my passions are American Studies, Creative Writing, and Dramatic Lit. I especially enjoy team/cooperative teaching with colleagues, and watching students create amazing public performances and presentations. |

This semester-long English Department elective for seniors focuses on viewing film as literature. Our Essential Questions: how do film-makers deliver a message to their audiences? How do they manipulate our perceptions? Students begin the course by becoming familiar with and knowledgeable about some of the basic terms and concepts of Cinematography and Film Structure, then move on to view, analyze, and evaulate a selection of films.
