Biology is a year-long science course required for graduation from Hamden High School. Throughout the year, we will address questions related to living things and how life works. Units include the Characteristics of Life, Chemistry, Infectious Diseases, Cells, Energetics, Cell Division and Cancer, Genetics and Heredity, Ecology and Populations, and Evolution. All units will include one or more required performance tasks for students to showcase their understanding. Students taking Biology 19 will be expected to go above and beyond in demonstrating their level of understanding, and will be required to complete readings and assessments not given to the lower levels, as a means of enrichment. My job is to make the class as fun, interesting and relevant for you as I can, and to that end I will work tirelessly to help you have an insightful and successful year!
