Competitive Speech
Students in competitive speech learn to defend a position, share their thoughts and speak their mind. Students learn research skills, listening skills, speaking skills, reasoning and communication skills. Students prepare for competition in 13 speaking events as well as student congress. Participation and competition is expected.

Debate
Students in debate will focus on argumentation and reasoning as well as advanced debate theoryl. Students will learn three different types of debate, Policy, Lincoln Douglas and Public Forum. In addition, students will learn student congress in preparation for competition. Class participation and competition is expected

The primary objectives of this course is to introduce you to a wide variety of communication situations and prepare you to function competently within those settings. In order to achieve these objectives, this course will focus on increasing your understanding of communication principles as well as providing an environment for the practice of these principles.
