Math Extra Credit Assignment (homework)
Due Date: November 30, 2009
Students will receive an extra credit assignment to conclude our math unit of perimeter and area. Students will use graph paper to design their own room! They must include at least 10 items in their room, and then they must measure the perimeter and area of each item. More details will be sent home on Tuesday before our Thanksgiving holiday.
Indian Tribe Letters
November 23, 2009
To conclude our unit of study on the earliest Native American Texans, our class has taken what we learned about each tribe's home, food, culture, and land region to write tribe letters. We used traditional Indian symbols and words to describe the activities of each tribe. We distressed and painted our tribe letters to look like buffalo hide. We will present these tribe letters to the other 4th grade classes on Monday.

Weekly Facts Test
November 20, 2009
We continue to work each week on our multiplication facts. On Fridays, we have taken a timed test over that week's math facts family. We just finished the 12s test, and students will receive a cola for successfully passing all 12 math facts tests. Beginning Friday, we will now be taking timed mised facts tests to work toward earning another cola or a candy bar, whichever the student chooses. It's a great way to reinforce these important math skills each week. Please remind your child to study, study, study those math facts each week!
Invertebrates Museum Exhibit
October 20, 2009
Next week, we will begin a science research project on invertebrates. 9 out of 10 animals and insects are classified as invertebrates who don't have a backbone. Students have been watching a video and reading facts about many different types of invertebrates. They will select a specific type to research and create a museum exhibit label for our invertebrates museum exhibit. Come visit soon!
8's Multiplication Test (homework)
Due Date: October 16, 2009
Each week, we practice a new set of multiplication facts to become more confident in our math operations. On Friday, we are tested over that set of facts. Please encourage your child to study their flash cards, write their number chart, or do a tic-tac-fact to practice their multiplication facts each week.
