This is my second year at Chase County Schools and my ninth year of teaching. I graduated with my Masters in Accounting in 2002. If you would like to get some college credit while in high school, I currently offer four different classes that will allow you to do this.
Starting the 2nd quarter, all late assignments will be deducted 10% each week with no assignments being accepted after 2 weeks. |

An introductory course to provide students with a sound basic knowledge of accounting terms, concepts, and procedures. It includes the accounting cycle for a service business, accounting for cash and payroll, and the accounting cycle for a merchandising business. This class will be offered as a dual credit class through MPCC, ACCT 1025, Bookkeeping for Business. However, this course is not designed to be a transfer course for business majors.

A foundation course for mare advanced work in the fields of accounting and business management, designed to furnish a working knowledge of accounting principles and practices which will be of value to the businessman, secretary, and professional accountant. Included are the theory and practice of double-entry accrual-basis accounting, a study of the various hand-kept journals, ledgers, financial statements, complete accounting cycle, cash control, accruals, inventories, depreciation, payroll accounting, adjusting and closing the accounts, business papers, reports, and other accounting-related topics. This class will be offered as a dual credit class through MPCC, course number ACCT 1030, Introductory Accounting I.

This course offers an introduction to ordinary legal aspects of business transactions involving such topics as legal rights and duties, law of contracts, law of sales, and law of property. It givers a general understanding and development of basic legal topics in business situations through the use of principles, cases, and information sueful in determining the need for professional cousel.

This course discusses the ethical and safety issues related to computer usage on the internet. A variety of business letters will also be covered. PowerPoint will be utilized to create a professional presentation.

An integrated computer application course designed to give students experience in developing and integrating word processing, spreadsheets, and graphics in the workplace. Students will also learn what to look for when purchasing their own computer. Activities will be utilized to gain knowledge on using the 10-key pad. This class will be offered for dual credit when taken with Information Technology II. Course number OFFT 2150, Integrated Information Processing.

This class will teach you the techniques you will need to be able to create a professional presentation for business or pleasure.

This course provides a practical approach to managing one’s personal finances that includes financial record keeping, personal federal income tax, major consumer purchases, financing, investment fundamentals, and other financial topics of interest. The class will be offered for dual credit through MPCC with a course number of BSAD 1100, Personal Finance.
