Welcome back to a new school year at Cooke Elementary School! My name is Katrina Wright and I will be your child’s fourth grade teacher. I am eager to get started with this great group of terrific children. The beginning of the school year is an exciting time for me. I look forward to meeting my students and getting to know them. Fourth grade is a year of immense measurable growth both personally and academically. I am confident that together we will have a fun and productive year.
It would be a huge help to me if you would help me get to know your child a bit before the school year starts. Please take a few moments and write me a letter describing your child’s interests, strengths, and weaknesses. Feel free to include what your expectations are for the school year and how you prefer to communicate with me this year: emails, phone calls, or notes home with your child. You can bring the letter with you to Open House/Meet the Teacher, drop it off at school, or return it on the first day of school. Thank you for taking the time out of your schedule to write this letter. I look forward to getting to know you and your child this year. I have no doubt that we will share many successful learning experiences! See you at Open House/Meet the Teacher on August 28 at 3pm or 6pm! =)
Topics you may want to include in the letter:
Who is in your family?
What does your child love about school?
What does your child like to do in his/her free time?
Does your child have any anxieties about school?
Is there anything you feel I need to know about your child to better meet his/her needs?
Does your child have any food allergies or health concerns that I need to be aware of?
Note: The letter does not need to be extensive; feel free to just list the information. =)
P.S. To help your child get acquainted with everyone and to learn more about each other, I am requesting that each child bring in a photograph or two of his/her family. You can send in the photo with the letter. The picture will be displayed on our classroom family bulletin board. =)
