Course #0209: 1 credit, 5 meetings per week
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Grade 8 Math or its equivalent.
Course Description
This course investigates the fundamental ideas of algebra upon which all future study of mathematics depends. It reviews basic number theory and set theory, the properties of rational and irrational numbers and the languages of algebra. Students study equations, inequalities, functions, graphs and systems of equations. Using graphing technology, algebra is applied to the solution of practical problems involving measurement, geometry, probability and statistics.

Period 8
Office hours for extra help:
Tuesdays 2:15-3:00
Course #0210: 1 credit, 5 meetings per week
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Grade 8 Math or its equivalent.
Course Description
This course investigates the major ideas of algebra from a more theoretical view than Algebra I 15. Students study the properties of rational and irrational numbers and the languages of algebra. Equations, inequalities, functions, graphs and systems of equations are modeled using graphing technology, and these ideas are used to solve challenging problems involving measurement, geometry, probability and statistics.

Periods 2, 3 and 7
Office hours for extra help:
Wednesdays 2:15-3:00
Course 0217: 1 Credit, 5 meetings per week
Prerequisite: Successful completion of Algebra I 15 or equivalent.
Course Description: This course investigates the spatial relationships of polygons and solids within a framework of points, lines and planes. Using the fundamentals of logic to gain knowledge and insight, the student becomes acquainted with scientific method of investigation and validation of facts. Emphasized in the course is an understanding the basic relationships of congruence and similarity, the structures used to analyze them and the language used to communicate these ideas. The ideas in the course are used to solve a variety of practical problems from a geometric viewpoint.
