| What are we learning?

In reading we are we are working on fluency and comprehension. We are also practicing different strategies to use when reading (chunking, visual clues, looking for smaller words in bigger words). In language arts we have learned about nouns and verbs, compound words, antonyms and synonyms. Right now we are learning about cause and effect. Remember to read every night and to practice your phonograms.
In math we are recognizing numbers, number patterns, and ordinal numbers. We have also started practicing our subtraction! I encourage my students to practice their facts at home every night! We have now started mad minutes. The children have 1 minute to complete their problems. Once they have scored an A on their test they will move on.
Our science unit is on weather. We are learning about the different types of weather, how it effects our day, and using a thermometer to measure how hot or cold it is.
Keep up the good work!
