Welcome to Agricultural Education! This program is designed to increase agricultural awareness, develop career skills, and promote citizenship. While in class you will learn about your specific curriculum area through classroom instruction, spend time practicing skills through hands on applications, as well as the opportunity to participate in the FFA.
The total agricultural program consists of classroom/laboratory instruction, Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE), and FFA. Public Law 740/105-225 declared FFA as an intracurricular segment for Agricultural Education.
I first started Agricultural studies in high school. When in the 8th grade I was asked by some senior members to run the concession stand our school fair. From that point on I knew I would always be involved with Agriculture and FFA.
A surprise to many, I did not grow up on a farm or even so much as own a pet. I started showing dairy cattle in 1998 and continued throughout college. Unfortunately these were all cows owned by friends or farms that I worked for. I continued my Agricultural experience by attending SUNY Cobleskill, located in central NY. I moved to GA in the summer of 2006 to pursue a degree at the University of Georgia. After 1 year of studying I decided to enter the career world and that just happened to be at Southeast. My MAL was completed in May 2008 and so now I'm taking a break from sitting in the classroom and instead standing in the front of it!
