My name is Mrs. Melanie Williams and I teach 7th and 8th Grade English classes as well as 7th Grade Reading Learning Strategies. Please read the list of requirements and expectations that I have set for my classes. I encourage both students and parents to include any other information or comments that you feel may be valuable for me to know. Your input is greatly appreciated.
Requirements & Expectations
-Show proper RESPECT for your teacher, school property, others, the property of others, and yourself
-Be an active participant in the classroom. Listen and take part in class discussions.
-Demonstrate the 5P's: Be prompt, prepared, polite, productive, and positive.
-Strive to do your best, not just enough to get by.

This course involves a review of skills previously taught in the elementary grades as well as the introduction of new skills and objectives. We focus on expressing, communicating, and exchanging ideas effectively through writing. Students also learn to apply Standard English(grammar,capitalization,punctuation, sentence structure, etc.) to communicate. In May, students will take the Mississippi Curriculum Test, 2nd Edition (MCT2).

In this course, we focus on using word recognition and vocabulary skills to communicate. We also focus on applying reading strategies and skills to comprehend various types of text. Students must choose library books to read independently in order to take tests and earn Accelerated Reader points. Students will take the Mississippi Curriculum Test, 2nd Edition (MCT2) in May.
