History and Science are taught every six weeks, but not each every week. For the first three weeks we will learn something about history. For the second three weeks we will learn someting about science. This helps keep the students from getting confused with all the information.
In history we will have units George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, Abraham Lincoln, and George Washington Carver as well as the American Flag, bald eagle, the Washington Monument, the Statue of Liberty, and the Pledge of Allegiance. We will also discuss holidays and their importance. Students will learn how to read and use a map and time lines, and understand how location and climate affect how people live. They will learn aboout money, goods, services, wants, and needs.
In Science we will have units on the different kinds of motion, how different materials interact with water, and natural resources. Students will learn the needs of plants and animals, the basic parts of a plant, and characteristics of plants and animals. We will discuss the sun, day and night, and how climates affect plants and animals.
I will place information about the unit on this site each time we switch units. |
