An exploration of the standards and techniques used in bringing the news to a wide audience via television, including our own YJTV-Ch. 19. Students learn basic camera operations, story-development and reporting skills as they begin their journey to become TV news makers.

This class explores the skills, technical demands and aethetic concerns facing recording engineers and artists. We expore both the numerous knobs and buttons in our digital audio studio and the subtleties of various types of recorded music, spanning numerous genres. An emphasis is placed on microphones, mic placement and the history of audio recording.

An advanced studio recording class, focused on group audio recording and mixing projects, explorations of crew positions and team interactions and student-driven research into audio terminology.

This course covers the skills, technical and aesthetic demands facing visual storytellers exploring the medium, with an emphasis on TV. Students work in production crews to explore single-camera short form "films", using digital video cameras and editing using iMovie. Look for student efforts on YJTV-Ch. 19.

An advanced video and TV studio course, with a focus on original works. This class includes instruction in editing using FinalCut Pro software, and is run in conjunction with the State's 21st Century Skills Digitial Movie Making Course (DM3). Students create, shoot and refine content in production teams modeled on the traditional professoinal TV crew dynamic.
