This course is designed to introduce the beginning guitarist to the structure, chords, notes, styles, and vocabulary of the guitar. Students will work both one-on-one with the instructor and in groups preparing material. The intent of the class is to foster a fun and rewarding atmosphere while learning the basics of this incredible instrument.

A survey of Western European music from early Catholic Church music of the Middle Ages to the late Classical Period.

Music Theory I focuses on the tools, concepts, and skills necessary to read, write, and perform music. The class works on note identification, clefs, and other musical notation. It also covers intervals, scales, melodies, chords, and chord function.
