7 HIGH SCHOOL ART Emergency Plans
The following plans are for Art I, Art II,
Art major, Portfolio, Honors Art, AP Art DAY ONE: PENCIL SKETCH (1 HOUR) Spend one hour on a pencil sketch using a resource that is black and white with shades of grey. Select a resource that is suitable for this objective. Use a # 2 Pencil and white paper. DAY TWO: PENCIL SKETCH (1 HOUR) Continuation from day one. Continue the drawing you previously started. Make sure you create a likeness with the resource you selected. Do not trace. Spend one hour on this assignment and save the results for a grade. Use protective paper, no wrinkles, no smudges. DAY THREE: ART PAGE (1 HOUR) Create an "Art Page" that reflects original ideas. Utilize repetition, scale, lines, shapes, and possibly original images. Use colored pencils, markers, ball point pens, and pencil. Save the result and turn in for a grade. DAY FOUR; ART HISTORY FOCUS (1 HOUR) Select an artist and study the artwork. Next, select your favorite work and relate why you like this piece. Describe the work and save your result for a grade. Possible artists for your consideration are; Georges Seurat, Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dali, Roy Lichtenstein, and Andy Warhol DAY FIVE; ART HISTORY FOCUS ( 1 HOUR) -------Vincent Van Gogh------- Look up the artwork by Vincent Van Gogh. Read about his life and look at his work. Next, write a reaction. How do you feel about this artist? Do you like his work? Save the results for a grade. DAY SIX: DESIGN AN ORIGINAL IMAGE (1 HOUR) Design an original image that is interesting, surprising, cute, funny, bold, or powerful. It also must be appropriate. Save the results for a grade. DAY SEVEN: ONE FRAME CARTOON (1 HOUR) Create an original one frame cartoon or substitute this objective by drawing an existing cartoon image Save the results for a grade. All artwork must be saved and submitted when you return to school. Please make sure you sign your name on all of your work. This work will be graded.
Advanced Placement Art
The students are currently working on an original expression. This course, a college level course, will enable the students to develop a series of artworks that have a link in expression and style.
Part of the focus of this course is to explore and investigate different types of expression and medias. The students will also critique the artwork by fellow classmates.
Art I
Students finished working on a "Creative Name" presentation drawn on their folder cover. They are adding patterns and designs as well as colors.
Currently the students are focused on a 2-D artwork involving unique designs and color usage. The completed work should catch the viewer's attention and should reflect a sense of excellence and mastery of media. The students have also started a drawing exercise that they are responsible for. The next objective will be a pointillism art assignment.
Art II
This course is designed to develop the students' painting and drawing skills as well as the use of imagination.. The current project is designing and interesting art folder. The students will explore various design options and color usage.
After completing the current project, the students will be asked to work on an acrylic painting. Their original expression will include experiencing the importance of the "Process" used for this art.
Art Major
The students are working on a hand painted T-Shirt that involves originality.
They will learn the steps necessary for a successful result. Some students may opt to work on a 2-D surface. The goal remains the same. All art must reflect originality and a sense of excellence.
Honors Art
The students are working on an original expression.This artwork rings true to the genuine expression of an artist and should have gallery exhibition merit.
The works may range from self-portraits , portraits of people they know, or even a still life.. The current goal for students is to create a large original acrylic painting.
Portfolio
The students are currently working on a large drawing that includes color usage. The artwork must be original and the goal is for the students to demonstrate mastery of media.
Seventh Grade Art
This class is designed to develop the students' imagination and skills. They will explore their expressions using different medias and scale.
The students will learn about various artists and their unique artwork. The students have designed the cover of their folder. This focus allowed them to evolve different ideas and color usage. The current project is a small acrylic painting.
Seventh Grade Emergency Plans ( Seven )
Day One: Draw an original cartoon image and color your results. (Do not copy an existing cartoon image.
Day Two: Find a resource that is black and white with shades of gray. This resource should have an image that you think you would be able to draw. On a white piece of paper draw the resource. Day Three: Look through a magazine and select some images that you find interesting. Carefully cut them out and glue them onto a picture plane. (Piece of paper) This will be your collage. Day Four. Create a 2-D design. You need to incorporate geometric shapes and interesting use of color. Day Five: Use a number two pencil and white piece of paper. Start doodling on the paper and see where it takes you. Sometimes images will start to emerge. Day Six: Select a pair of sneakers and draw them using a number two pencil and white piece of paper. Day Seven: Take a small piece of paper and shade it gray/black using a number two pencil. Next, using an eraser create a small line drawing by erasing some of the black. |
