Welcome to Mrs. Lerud's Website!
I teach the FACS of life!
Child Development
This course focuses on the role of parents and the social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development of the child from birth through age three.
Early Childhood Education
This course is for students who may be interested in a career working with children. The course will contain information about the growth and development of preschool age children. Students will work with and study children in an actual lab playschool setting that will run for seven weeks. It is called Little People’s Palace and is open to members of the community. Curriculum will be created by the students in the areas of art, dramatic play, writing, math, science, nutrition, music, movement, etc. Students will also use observation to study behavior, learning, and areas of child development.
Fashion Design
Students explore the history of fashion. They then discover what color, design, and style of clothing best suits them. Their final project is sewing a garment and designing an accessory. The "grand finale" is a fashion show to "show off" the fashions the students have created!
Housing and Interior Design
Students learn how to decorate the inside of a home by using the elements and principles of design. They draw floor plans and use templates to arrange furniture. Students also generate designs on a 3-D computer program called "Chief Architect."
