AES Tech Team Comes Home WINNERS!

AES Technology Team 2009

The AES Tech Team composed of 17 4th grade resource students came home winners from the Regional Technology Competition at Jacksonville State University! The competition was held on January 23, 2009. This was the first time AES students have participated in this competition. Students boarded the bus with members of the AHS Tech Team at 7:30 Friday morning. First on the agenda was the Technology Information Test. All students in 3rd and 4th grades took this written test. Kolbi Keeton won 3rd place while Caylor Slivka and Christopher Nguyen won Honorable Mention! Way to go! Lunch may just be everyone's favorite part of the day! The JSU cafeteria has a pizza bar, home-cooking bar, salad bar, and even a dessert bar! Our lunch time was quickly ended as judging began at 11:30. I was so proud of each and every student as they were judged. Students really showed their polite manners as they shook hands, used great eye contact, were confident, and treated the judges with respect! There were different groups of judges who visited students from AES. Winners: General Application Category - Individual: 1st Place - Anna Clay Adams 2nd Place - Bryant Nelson 3rd Place - Mckinley Williams Group Winners 1st Place - Andra Williams, Lauren Martin, and Miranda Munroe Multimedia Category - Individual Winners: 1st Place - Emley Holcombe 1st Place - Emma Tharp Honorable Mention - Vince Berrey Group Winners: 1st Place - Christopher Nguyen, David Garcia 2nd Place - Seth Pack, Caylor Slivka, Winn Jones 2nd Place - Hannah Glassco and Alexis Wordlaw Video Production: 1st Place - Kolbi Keeton Congratulations to all! Many hours of research, writing, planning, and working on Apple applications were put into each project! They are all super! Thanks, too, to Drew Campbell (Computer Administrator) for all his help in getting us ready for competition! These students were so well behaved, courteous, FUN to be around -- I appreciate all of them so much! We had a great group of parents go with us! Thank you! Mrs. Stacie Jenkins led us on a walking tour of campus complete with a stop in the JSU football stadium (ONLY US - VERY COOL!) and the campus bookstore! Many of the students will move on to state competition in April in Montgomery! I am so very proud of all of you!
