Because puberty is such a time of confusion and misperceptions, students often express their feelings in an inappropriate manner. Sexual harassment occurs when an individual harasses or bullies another individual in ways that are sexual. It can include touching, bumping into, grabbing, name-calling, rumors, jokes, preventing passage, and leering. It is important to remember that whether something is considered sexual harassment totally depends upon how it is perceived, not how it is intended. Students will learn to be pro-active in stopping sexual harassment.
