In this class, we will explore different types of news writing and how the media affects society. Students will: 1) write at least 5 types of journalistic articles (Question & Answer Interview, Narrative Interview, Editorial, Investigative Article, Sports Article, Review Article). 2) discuss current news on a daily basis. 3) try new projects based around their interests. (photojournalism, television reporting, etc) 4) cover school and community news. 5) create a final project newspaper. 6) submit articles to The Dial. Some of the questions we will explore are: *What is �news� and what obligation do journalists have to the public? *What types of journalistic writing are there? *What ethical purposes do journalists serve?
