Welcome to Advanced Placement English Composition and Literature. 

Welcome back! AVID II resembles your first year in AVID in many ways. First, you will see many familiar faces. Your involvement in AVID means you will be a part of a community of learners, build friendships, and set goals. What is different about this year? Our focus this year will center around career planning. AVID tutorials and binder checks are a part of this class. That has not changed. However, this year, we will focus on career choices through research projects, oral  reports, and various mini-projects. I look forward to working you this year!

English 11 is a survey of American Literature from the pre-colonial era to the present . In American literature, we will acknowledge and explore the diverse cultural landscape that makes up the American experience. My goal is to equip all students with the  knowledge and resources needed to make every student a life-long learner and reader. In addition to analyzing non-fiction documents and literary prose, our class will delve into historical, cultural, and social context of each literary piece in order to gain a deeper understanding of significant influences and experiences.
