Algebra 17
PREREQUISITE: Successful completion of Grade 8 Math or its equivalent
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course investigates the major ideas of algebra from a more theoretical point of view than in Algebra I 15. Students study the properties of rational and irrational numbers and the language of
algebra. Equations, inequalities, functions, graphs and systems of equations are modeled using graphing technology and these ideas are used to solve challenging problems involving measurement, geometry, probability and statistics.

PREREQUISITE: Strong achievement in Algebra II
COURSE DESCRIPTION: Advanced Placement Statistics is a full year course vailable to students who wish to complete a course that is the equivalent to a one semester, introductory non-calculus based college course in statistics. Students who enroll in many college programs in engineering, psychology, sociology, health science and business take a course that is equivalent to the AP Statistics course. Students in this course study concepts and tools for collecting, analyzing and drawing inclusions from data. They will explore four broad conceptual themes: working with data, planning a study, anticipating patterns and making statistical inferences. Upon successful completion of the course and the AP exam, students may receive credit and/or advanced placement for an introductory college statistics course. All students enrolled in this class will be expected to take the Advanced Placement Examination in Statistics.
