LOCATING SHORT STORIES

!. Use the library catalog to locate short stories in the library.

2. Look up short stories on line in the Google Advance Search mode.

3. Use Novelist Plus.

EXAMINE YOUR OPTIONS TO MOVE FORWARD.

1. Decide if you're looking a three short stories by the same author to examine a common social issue this author explores. (This is close to a literature review).

OR

2. Study one short story and determine how that social issue exist and evolved in the present. Look at the databases for your social issues and find interesting commonality and contrasts. (It's okay to use Sparknotes, eNotes, Bookrags and other summary resources to see what the social issues are if you can find your short story there. No harm in using them this way).

Study of Beowulf - English IV
This online class examines a number of sources including reference, literary criticism, multimedia, indexes to help English IV students tackle Beowulf topics.mined themes.

As seniors, you've probably used Ebscohost for some of your classes. It's time to elevate your information gathering skills. For this assignment, use Ebscohost's Literary Reference Center, (LRC). The login procedure is the same. Choose the suggested LRC link this time.

Let's also look at the dialogue of Beowulf and its theme on college campuses. That's where you headed anyway, Use the Google Directory for that.

What about the theme Good vs. Evil. Or, what about using Beowulf to learn more about epic poems. You'll probably want to use Britannica Online. There is a class for this resource on this site as well.

Another great online encyclopedia supplying an introduction, historical overview, themes, style, literary criticism and more is Answers.com. Use this link.

As promised, I am providing a resource on literary devices.
