Look at what's happening in 4-Red!
MATH: We are learning about fractions in Chapter 8. Also,please continue reviewing multiplication facts from 1-12 at home. READING: The stories we will read in Unit 2 are Justin & the Best Biscuits in the World, Just a Dream, Leah's Pony, Baseball Saved Us, and Time for Kids article: Will Her Native Language Disappear?. Skills reviewed within these stories include: forming generalizations, using context clues, sequence of events, cause & effect, and making predictions. GRAMMAR: In Unit 2 we will be studying common & proper nouns, singular & plural nouns, and possessive nouns. SPELLING: A Personalized Spelling list will be used to help each student develop individual spelling skills. RELIGION: In Chapter 5 we will review the Sacrament of Reconciliation. SOCIAL STUDIES: in Unit 2 we will focus on the Native Americans that settled throughout New Jersey. SCIENCE: For up to date information, check out Mrs. Mooney's webpage!

BOOK FAIR Our class will attend the Book Fair on Thursday, May 10th from 1:30-2:00 SATURDAY-May 12th Our Social Justice Group will host a Clothing Drive from 9:00 AM until 12:00 noon today in front of the Old Church. The proceeds from this clothing drive will be used to assist others in the community and will help to clothe people who are in need and less fortunate. Please keep clothing and shoes separate. Visit http://www.staloysiusschool.com/clothingdrive.html for a list of acceptable items. CLASS TRIP-Reminder We will be going to the Old Barracks & State House in Trenton on Tuesday, May 15th. A signed permission slip must be received by Wednesday, May 9th. We will be leaving school at 10:00am and return approximately 4:00pm. Please make arrangements for your child to be picked up that day. A bagged lunch and drink in a disposable container should be packed. No glass bottles or soft drinks are permitted. Students will have time to visit the gift shop before returning home. ASCENSION THURSDAY- May 17th- Please join us for our 10:30 Liturgy. GATOR DAY-Friday, May 18th (9:30-3:00) A day of fun, games, & exercise is planned. For this year's Gator Day. More information to come. HUGS PROGRAM- The last day for the HUGS program is Thursday, May 24th WAX MUSEUM Congratulations to all of the 4th grade students for doing such a phenomenal job bringing their characters to life during our Wax Museum presentation. Thank you also, to the 4th grade parents for your support in making this a successful endeavor for our students! Please check the school site for photos of the event.

• Homework is assigned Monday through Thursday only. Each child is responsible for writing homework in his/her planner each day. You can help by checking the planner daily to ensure that all homework is completed and returned on time. • A warning will be issued for the first missed homework assignment in each subject area. After that, five points will be deducted from the homework grade for each missed assignment. • When absent from school, your child will have one day to complete missed homework assignment(s) for each day of absence. If your child is out for an extended period of time due to illness please contact the main office to make special arrangements.
