Welcome to the Hangzhou International School Library
The Hangzhou International School Library plays a unique and pivotal role in the learning community. Its mission is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information.The school library media program creates an environment that encourages the lifelong habit of reading. It supports the school curriculum and focuses on developing lifelong learners and independent thinkers. The library media center is a hub of the school: an active place with an inviting environment for students of all ages. The school library media program: - supports the Essential School Wide Learning Results (ESLR’s) - helps develop students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills - builds collaboration with teachers and students - uses the AASL (American Association of School Libraries) Standards for the 21st Century and the ISTE (International Society of Technology in Education) as primary guides for teaching and learning - provides materials that are available in many formats, including digital, electronic and print media - encourages reading for enjoyment - provides learning activities to support digital and 21st century learners - ensures a safe and comfortable environment for the entire learning community
