Interactive Exploration of Past and Current Events
Social Studies is the exploration of our current global society and how it relates to the past. By investigating past events it will help us understand how our country developed into the diverse and global leader that we are. In order for us to become productive citizens in the United States we have to understand how our government operates and where those principles come from. This will allow us to function as productive members of our society.
8TH Grade American Studies
American Studies provides students the opportunity to explore the past of our great nation. It all begins with a look at one of the longest living documents: The Constitution. From there students then explore the various past experiences of people and cultures that have influenced the development of the United States, beginning with a study of Native Americans and moving through European Colonization of North America all the way through the Revolutionary War and the establishment of the Constitution. After that point, we follow the Americans as they move west and become industrialized in the process. After that, our journey ends with the sad division of our country that produced one of the most talked about, written about, and controversial topics in our nation's history: The Civil War.
