Third Grade OCTOBER OBJECTIVES (homework) September 4, 2007 October 2007 Language Arts: Reading- We will be working on different skills according to the VB pacing guide. We will also start a new comprehension story each week and have differentiated guided reading groups in class daily. Writing- We will begin with a review of cursive from second grade, additional practice will be maintained on a nightly basis. Elements of the writing process (plan, rough draft, revise, edit, and publish) will also begin this month on general topics. Math: Please reference the math letter that is sent home at the start of each new unit for current objectives. Science: We will be finishing a unit on Matter and its related components then starting Simple Machines. Social Studies: We will be finishing up Ancient Greece and staring Ancient Rome. On going reminders: Sign “Fish Funds” nightly. Please check over your child’s homework calendar and related homework each evening. Spelling (Word Study) varies, list are differentiated for your child’s ability.
