Upcoming Stuff for Reading and Language Arts Welcome to 4th grade Reading and Language Arts Weekly Homework Requirements Reading - Students need to read 30 minutes each night at home. I require students to take AR tests on five books each nine weeks. Two of these should be nonfiction and three should be fiction. Students need to read books on their reading level. Students may choose to turn in a two page summary of a book in place of taking an AR test. In order to keep up with current events, students will read and complete a Scholastic News each week. Scholastic News is given to the students on Monday and will be due every Friday Language Arts - Every 4th grade student has a writer's notebook. It is important that students write in this notebook on a regular basis to practice writing skills taught in class. Students need to write a half page every night for homework. The writer's notebook will be graded at the end of each nine week grading period. Students will also have a Spelling test every Friday. They will write the weekly Spelling words in their agenda every Monday to use for studying.
