This course integrates grammar, vocabulary, oral expression and process writing into the study of literary genre including the short story, drama, the novel and poetry. The objective of this course is to improve reading comprehension, vocabulary and writing skills so students will be expected to read some materials independently. CAPT, and reading and writing strategies will be emphasized. Two process papers will be required.

This course includes grammar, vocabulary, oral expression and process writing into the study of literary genre. This course explores literature thematically. Students will read multiple texts (novels, short stories, poetry, and drama) as they explore various themes. The Honors Freshman English Course should be chosen by students who are capable of sophisticated reading and have demonstrated a good grasp of writing and analytical skills. Three process papers will be required. CAPT strategies will be part of the course.
