Community Consolidated School District 181
6th Grade Health
Overview:
6th Grade Health education forms the foundation for exploration and discovery of the basic components of well being. It is designed to create awareness and build a vocabulary of those physical, mental/emotional and social aspects of healthy living that are impacted by student choices. The curriculum aligns with State and District Standards, focusing on health promotion with consideration of the developmental aspects of teen growth and wellness. Lessons are designed to include personal assessment and inventory, problem-solving activities, communication skill-building, responsible decision making and group interaction. Reflective practice will also be an important tool to assess understanding beyond formative and summative assessment. www.d181.org
7th Grade Health
Overview:
7th Grade Health confronts the student as he/she begins to take greater responsibility for their personal wellness. It will prepare the student for health education at the high school level. Units and topics presented are practical and relevant to their emerging adolescence and challenge and support their ability to make healthy decisions and choices. These can impact and influence their healthy habits for future well being. Thus, the curriculum serves to promote positive choices, consider risky behaviors and their consequences, practice decision making and refusal skills while giving the student accurate information and the tools to apply to their life circumstances. www.d181.org |
