Renaissance Period
We are studying the Renaissance period and reading the Shakespearean play Othello. We are also practicing for the ACT test. If you need to register for the test, go to actstudent.org for registration information, and practice tests. Wit the practice in the class, students shoud get an idea of what they need to study and practice the most. We are also going to be working on completing resumes, applications, and financial forms.
Please look at the career paper document in the downloads. Students are to type a 1-2 page paper about the career they will pursue after high school. Students will also give a 4-7 minute presentation including a Power Point slide show about their career. This should include questions and answers or slides concerning an interview with someone who has this job. Power Point Presentations begin Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2011, and will finish on Monday, Oct. 24, 2011. Students sign up in class. After research projects are completed, we will begin work on resumes and completing job, college, and scholarship applications. If at any time students or parents need help with any of these items, please do not hesitate to ask for my help... Students' first essay they will be working on is one in which they will develop their mission, vision, and goals as students, and for after graduation. This is an extremely important writing assignment because it provides the jumping off point for completing college, scholarship, and post-secondary program applications.
