History Fair
History Fair is optional this year. Students who do not wish to compete will complete a class-based research project.
History Fair Guidelines The guidelines, including the guidelines for each presentation category, for History Fair are set by the History Fair organization and not the school or the district. Please refer to National History Day website (www.nhd.org ) for rules and guidelines, as well as presentation categories. Students are asked to do research (mostly outside of school) on a historical topic they are interested in investigating and then create presentation based on their findings. Students are given very little time in class to work on their projects. Since this is the case, we ask that students working in groups choose group members wisely. The project will still require a significant time commitment at home. For example, your child may need you to take them to the local library or the downtown library, which is the best. The computer will be a valuable research tool too. Students are advised to look in the National Archives website, which has the largest collection or historical documents for primary documents: http://www.archives.gov. The final project must be completed at home, as school time will not be devoted to this. |
