History & The Future
Course Objective
To explore the ways science fiction addresses social issues through books, short stories, film, and other media. How does science fiction explain and evaluate history? How does it both imagine and affect the future? How does science fiction disguise contemporary issues and dilemmas as fantasy, and in so doing, effectively allow people to understand critical social issues in powerful ways that change the way we think about the world? |
