What ever happened to six-year-old Jon Benet Ramsey? Did OJ Simpson really kill his ex-wife? (f he did it!) Did the bride from Connecticut really throw the groom overboard while on their honeymoon?
Where is Natalee Holloway? Who really kidnapped the Lindbergh baby? If you think you know the answers to these questions, or if these questions keep you up at night...then this course is for you.
Mystery 35 is a twenty week survey course specializing in the literary genre of “mystery” and includes the reading and explication of short stories, novels and plays. Authors such as Edgar Allan Poe, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Agatha Christie, Dashiell Hammett and others will be studied. We will also explore the gothic element in mystery literature.
The purpose of the course is to create an appreciation for mystery literature and to learn about its development and its importance in today’s literary world. Students will learn to use inductive and deductive reasoning to solve and analyze literary conflicts as well as real life experiences. Students will also be required to write their own mystery.
So get ready to analyze, examine, explore, infer and most importantly SOLVE the unsolvable, the baffling and the most bizarre cases known to humankind.
