WHAT WILL JANUARY BRING TO ROOM 8?
Welcome 2008!! Mrs. Carey and I hope that you enjoyed a nice holiday break and that the New Year will be a prosperous one for all of our LES Preschool families. Now it’s time to get back to work!!
During the month of January we will be talking about some very fun “Cold Weather” topics:
•Snowflakes and Snowmen - January 2 – 11
o Target Vocabulary: Winter, cold, snow, snowman, hat, scarf
• “The Mitten” by Jan Brett – January 14 – 18
o Target Vocabulary: mitten, squeeze, mouse, owl, hedgehog, mole, fox, rabbit, badger, bear
• Animals in Winter – January 22 – 31 and February 1
o Target Vocabulary: Polar bear, penguin, seal, walrus, iceberg, igloo
If we are lucky we may even get some snow to play in!
January Teacher Requests:
• If you have any pictures that show your family in the snow we would love to have them to share in circle time. Just send them in an envelope with any description your think necessary and I will send them back to you within a couple of days.
• For the week that we are reading “The Mitten” if your child already owns a pair, (please do not buy them special for this week) please send them in so that we can see if our all of animal friends could really fit into them. Again, anything that you send in, please make sure that they are marked so that I can get everything back to the owner.
• For the week that we will be talking about winter animals, if your child has a favorite stuffed critter that we might be talking about (bear, penguin, seal, etc) send it because on Friday, February 1st we will be having a special Snack time with our SnowPals!! Sort of a winter picnic!
