| Mrs. Wallace's Classroom |
Welcome to another year at Landstown Elementary School. My name is Mrs. Wallace and I am a resource teacher for 4th and 5th grade Language Arts and Mathematics students. I will be assisting classroom teachers with daily work and implementing additional strategies to help students in areas that may present difficulty. In my classroom I use a number of manipulatives and love to plan real life activities that students enjoy. Last year we made cheesecake in the classroom to review measurements, fractions, money, addition, division and multiplication. For this project the students even had to go on a shopping trip with mom and/or dad to find out how much things cost to make our cheesecake. Graphs comparing data were introduced by counting the types of cars we had in the parking lot, size of families at home, did they live in a one story or a two story, and classrooms for each grade level in the building. Real life examples are limitless and fun for the students. Watch for similar projects this year.
I am a proud mother of 6 children ranging from 27 to 7. My husband, 16 year old daughter and 7 year old son all race dirtbikes. I sit on the sidelines and cheer them on. :o) Just one of the activities we like to do as a family.
I look forward to working with your student this year. Please check the website on a regular basis. I will post things we are working with in class as well as extra activities that you as a parent can use at home for extra practice and reinforcement.
