The Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA2) is a systematic program that allows the teacher to observe, record, and evaulate a student's reading ability. During this one-on-one evaluation, the child reads specially selected and leveled reading texts. This individualized assessment helps the teacher determine each student's reading level and identify what the student needs to learn next.
These assessments will be conducted in September and October.

The Language Arts Assessment Tests are developed by the Virginia Beach Public Schools for second and higher grades. They are designed to measure each student's progress on grade level objectives throughout the year. The test items are constructed to reflect the format of the SOL and Stanford 10 tests. These selections are read independently and are untimed. The results are analyzed to plan whole class and small group instruction.
These tests are given in September, December, and March.
