We have begun our IDR's which are Individualized Daily Reading logs. We will write about a story we're read and enjoyed or we might just write about one character or perhaps one event from the story, rather than a story summary. This project goes along with a new reading program called Making Meaning. It's a wonderful program to help with reading comprehension.

We have begun our unit on Seasonal Changes. Some new voacabulary words for us are migration, hibernation, and dormancy.

We are completing our unit on Native Americans. Please ask your child about the three tribes we studied (Powhatan, Sioux, and Pueblo). They should be able to tell you about their homes, region, transportation, and occupations.
