I hope everyone had a great spring break. Music classes are in full swing and in spite of the dreary weather, we are keeping a "spring " in our step with our songs.
AM Kindergarten classes are busily preparing to perform for the parents and children who will be attending Kindergarten Registration on Tuesday, April 22nd. We are also doing songs that tell stories, circle songs and learning when music sounds alike and different.
Our second graders are continuing to work on pitch patterns and rhythm patterns. They are doing a great job of singing and learning about the meter in the songs.
Third graders are also adding to their knowledge of pitch and rhythm patterns, learning about equal and unequal rhythm patterns. We have also talked about finding the phrases in the music and learned about low "so and la" to add to our pitch repertoire.
Fourth graders are very excited to be preparing for a special field trip in May. We will be joining fourth graders from other Virginia Beach schools at the Pavilion to hear a special concert performed by the Virginia Symphony. We are learning about the instrument families - their history, how they look and how they sound. Each week they have a worksheet to write down their information. We will also be talking about concert behavior and the music they will be hearing. You will be receiving field trip permission slips from the classroom teacher with ALL the information in the near future.
As you can see, music is thriving at Landstown Elementary!
