Please leave this newsletter in your child’s folder. The folder should be checked daily and any work of your child may be taken out. Please make sure that your child brings the folder to school every day.
Last Friday was the final time for us to check out books from the library. All library books are due back to school this Friday. Please make sure that your child's library book is sent back to school on THURSDAY. That way our class will have all books returned by the Friday deadline. Thank you!
We have a very busy week! Monday we will all be enjoying lunch in the cafeteria. Friday is field day. Please ask your child about how much they liked these events!
If you have not yet joined the PTA, please consider joining. The cost is $5, and it is a great way to be involved in our school. Also, if you have any interest in volunteering at school, please contact the PTA. Thanks!
This week we will be talking about plants. The children will observe the life cycle of the plant and learn how plants grow from seeds. We will also talk about the basic parts of a plant: roots, stems, leaves, flowers, fruit.

We will be reviewing letters and sounds, as well as using consonant blends and consonant digraphs. The children will also be practicing writing their full names and learning how to write a sentence that includes some of their Word Wall words including: "a", "the", "at", "can", "I", "am", "like", "is", "big", "in", "it", "but", "look", "see", "my", "we", "little", "have", "do", "not", "what", "one", "two", "get", "where", "and", "red", "yellow", "blue", "here", "to", "up",and "three".
In math, we will be practicing counting from 0-100, counting by 5's from 0-100, counting by 10's from 0-100, and counting backwards by 1's from 10. We will be using coins and reviewing the names of the coins as well as their values. The children are learning about place value, and we will begin learning about how to tell time to the hour.
As the school year comes to end, please check folders carefully for information about end of the school year events. The children will need to continue to bring their bookbags to school everyday and be ready to learn, so please remind them to continue to do their best during their last 10 days of Kindergarten! |
